5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the Linux kernel's LLC (Logical Link Control) component, which reads the mac header with eth hdr without verifying that the skb has an Ethernet header. This can be exploited by inserting packets without mac len and with user configurable skb->protocol, allowing an attacker to potentially cause a denial of service. The vulnerability was discovered by Syzbot on a tun device.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
