CVE-2023-52731

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the fbdev component of the Linux kernel. This can lead to corruption of pages and potentially allow an attacker to access confidential information. The problem occurs when a fbdev with deferred I/O is opened and closed, leaving dirty pages queued in the pageref list. These pages may later be processed, causing corruption. A patch has been created to address this bug by canceling the delayed work and cleaning up the pageref list when the device is closed.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
