CVE-2024-53155

CVSS v3.1

7.1

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the use of an uninitialized pointer in the ocfs2 file read iter() function of the Linux kernel. This could allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service. The problem arises because an instance of 'struct kiocb' may be passed from the block layer with the 'private' field uninitialized. To address this, a new function 'ocfs2 iocb init rw locked()' has been introduced and is used in 'ocfs2 file read iter()' and 'ocfs2 file write iter()'.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
