Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a memory leak in the btrfs quota disable() function of the Linux kernel's btrfs component. This leak occurs when the quota disable operation fails during the cleaning of the quota tree or the deletion of the root from the root tree, resulting in a reference to the quota root not being dropped. The problem has existed since the introduction of qgroups in 2012. To fix this, a btrfs put root() call is added under the 'out' label to ensure the reference is dropped.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
