CVSS v2.0

9.4

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to an out-of-bounds read in ksmbd vfs stream read(). It occurs when a client's offset is a negative value, leading to an out-of-bounds read from stream buf. This problem arises when the 'vfs objects = streams xattr parameter' is set in ksmbd.conf. The exploitation of this issue may allow a remote attacker to disclose protected information and cause a denial of service by sending specially crafted SMB requests to files with ADS.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
