CVE-2024-42109

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The vulnerability is related to the netfilter component of the Linux kernel and is caused by a use-after-free error. The issue arises when the notifier does a conditional flush, but it's possible that the table-to-be-removed is still referenced by transactions being processed by the worker, requiring an unconditional flush. The problem is exposed in nf-next with commit e169285f8c56 ("netfilter: nf tables: do not store nft ctx in transaction objects"), which triggers an unconditional fetch of table->family. Exploitation of this vulnerability may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
