Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a bug in the Linux kernel that could cause spurious double-initializations for congestion control modules, leading to memory leaks or other problems for modules that allocate memory in their init functions. The bug was introduced by a commit that set
icsk ca initialized to 0 in tcp init transfer(), missing the possibility of a sequence where a process could call setsockopt(TCP CONGESTION) in state TCP SYN SENT, which would call tcp init congestion control(). This could result in tcp init congestion control() being called twice without a cc->release() call in between, causing a memory leak for CC modules like CDG that allocate memory in their init functions.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
