Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A memory leak has been resolved in the Linux kernel, specifically in the
gpiochip setup dev() function. The issue occurred when device add() succeeded, but some resources, such as struct device private, were not released by device del(). This led to a memory leak, which has been fixed by calling put device() to release the resources in the error handle path. Additionally, a subtle issue has been addressed where kcalloc() was called with gc->ngpio equal to 0, resulting in unnecessary resource allocation and potential incorrect expectations about the contents of the gdev->descs variable.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
