CVE-2023-35703

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions GTKWave version 3.3.115
Description Multiple stack-based buffer overflow vulnerabilities exist in the FST LEB128 varint functionality. A specially crafted .fst file can lead to arbitrary code execution. A victim would need to open a malicious file to trigger these vulnerabilities. This issue concerns the fstReaderVarint64 function.
Recommendations For GTKWave version 3.3.115, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the fstReaderVarint64 function until a patch is available. Restrict access to .fst files from untrusted sources to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
