Description
The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow in the
setOpModeCfg function of the /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi file. This can be triggered by manipulating the pppoeUser argument, allowing a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. The exploit has been disclosed publicly.Recommendations
For Totolink LR1200GB version 9.1.0u.6619 B20230130, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
setOpModeCfg function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi file to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the pppoeUser argument in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved.
