CVE-2024-23850

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions through 6.7.1
Description The issue is related to the btrfs get root ref function in the Linux kernel, specifically in fs/btrfs/disk-io.c. It can cause an assertion failure and crash because a subvolume can be read out too soon after its root item is inserted upon subvolume creation. This can potentially allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions through 6.7.1, update to a version that contains a fix for this issue to prevent potential crashes and denial of service. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
