CVE-2023-46741

CVSS v4.0

5.1

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:L/VI:L/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions CubeFS versions prior to 3.3.1
Description A vulnerability was found in CubeFS that could allow users to read sensitive data from the logs, which could allow them to escalate privileges. CubeFS leaks configuration keys in plaintext format in the logs. These keys could allow anyone to carry out operations on blobs that they otherwise do not have permissions for. For example, an attacker that has successfully retrieved a secret key from the logs can delete blogs from the blob store. The attacker can either be an internal user with limited privileges to read the log, or they can be an external user who has escalated privileges sufficiently to access the logs. There is no evidence of this vulnerability being exploited in the wild.
Recommendations For CubeFS versions prior to 3.3.1, the recommended mitigation is to upgrade to version 3.3.1 or later, as the vulnerability has been patched in this version. There is no other mitigation than upgrading. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the logs to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, consider disabling any features that rely on the leaked configuration keys until the issue is resolved.
