CVE-2023-52606

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the powerpc/lib component of the Linux kernel, where some fp/vmx code in sstep.c assumes a certain maximum size for the instructions being emulated. However, the size of those operations is determined separately in analyse instr(). To prevent unintended kernel stack corruption, a check has been added to validate the assumption on the maximum size of the operations. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
