Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the nilfs2 filesystem in the Linux kernel. A macro called NILFS SB2 OFFSET BYTES, which calculates the position of the second superblock, underflows when the device size is less than 4096 bytes. This underflow causes out-of-bound block access when mounting devices smaller than 4096 bytes and can lead to excessive loop iterations and semaphore blocking when resizing the filesystem. The current nilfs2 implementation lacks a check to prevent this underflow, resulting in errors such as I/O errors and hung tasks.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
