CVE-2023-6497

CVSS v3.1

4.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions WordPress Simple Shopping Cart plugin versions up to and including 4.7.1
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the automatic redirect URL setting due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The issue only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered html has been disabled.
Recommendations For versions up to and including 4.7.1, update to a version later than 4.7.1 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the automatic redirect URL setting to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, ensure that unfiltered html is enabled for all users, or restrict the use of the plugin in multi-site installations until a patch is available.
