| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Google Chrome versions prior to 121.0.6167.139
Microsoft Edge (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a use after free in the Network service of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, allowing a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a malicious file. This could lead to arbitrary code execution. The
SourceStreamToDataPipe::ReadMore() function is passing a callback with Unretained(this) to net::SourceStream::Read(), but this callback may be called even after the SourceStream is destructed, resulting in a use after free.Recommendations
For Google Chrome versions prior to 121.0.6167.139, update to version 121.0.6167.139 or later to resolve the issue.
For Microsoft Edge, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
