Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Contact Form 7 – Dynamic Text Extension plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 4.1.0
Description
The issue allows authenticated attackers with contributor access or higher to access arbitrary metadata of any post type, referencing the post by id and the meta by key, due to missing validation on a user-controlled key in the CF7 get custom field and CF7 get current user shortcodes.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 4.1.0, update to a version higher than 4.1.0 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the CF7 get custom field and CF7 get current user shortcodes until a patch is available.
