| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Breakdance plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.7.0
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's custom postmeta output due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied post meta fields. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.7.0, update to a version that includes the necessary input sanitization and output escaping fixes to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the custom postmeta output feature until a patch is available. Additionally, restrict permissions to prevent contributors and above from injecting malicious scripts.
Fix
XSS
