Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Display custom fields in the frontend – Post and User Profile Fields plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.2.1
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's shortcode and postmeta due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.2.1, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the plugin's shortcode and postmeta to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Restrict access to pages that use the vulnerable plugin to minimize the risk of arbitrary web script execution.
Fix
XSS
