Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Display custom fields in the frontend – Post and User Profile Fields plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.2.1
Description
The issue allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to retrieve potentially sensitive post meta due to missing validation on a user-controlled key in the
vg display data shortcode. This enables them to access data they should not have access to.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.2.1, update to a version that includes the necessary validation for the
vg display data shortcode to prevent unauthorized access to post meta.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the vg display data shortcode for users with contributor-level access and above until a patch is available.Fix
