CVE-2023-6990

CVSS v3.1

5.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Weaver Xtreme theme for WordPress versions up to, and including, 6.3.0
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via custom post meta due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied meta, specifically the page-head-code. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages, which will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 6.3.0, update to a version that includes proper input sanitization and output escaping for user-supplied meta. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting contributor-level and above permissions to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, restrict access to custom post meta to prevent arbitrary web script injection.
