Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
MaxButtons plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including 9.7.6
Description
The MaxButtons plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's shortcode(s) due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including 9.7.6, update to a version later than 9.7.6, as the issue was partially fixed in version 9.7.6.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the plugin's shortcode(s) to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
XSS
