Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
D-Link DIR-815 version 1.01SSb08.bin
Description
The issue allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code via a crafted POST request to the
service parameter in the soapcgi main function of the cgibin binary component. This is caused by a buffer overflow in the soapcgi main function of the D-Link DIR-815 router's firmware.Recommendations
For D-Link DIR-815 version 1.01SSb08.bin, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
soapcgi main function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the cgibin binary component to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the service parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
