Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
WPFront Notification Bar plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.3.2
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
wpfront-notification-bar-options[custom class] parameter due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with administrator-level access to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The issue only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered html has been disabled.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 3.3.2, update to a version later than 3.3.2 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
wpfront-notification-bar-options[custom class] parameter to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
