Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Comments Extra Fields For Post,Pages and CPT plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 5.0
Description
The issue is related to Cross-Site Request Forgery due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on several ajax actions. This allows unauthenticated attackers to invoke those actions via a forged request if they can trick a site administrator into performing an action, such as clicking on a link. As a result, they may modify comment form fields and update plugin settings.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 5.0, update to a version that includes proper nonce validation for all ajax actions to prevent Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the plugin's settings and comment form fields to minimize the risk of exploitation.
