CVE-2024-10148

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Awesome buttons plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.0
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's btn2 shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 1.0, consider disabling the btn2 shortcode until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to pages that use the btn2 shortcode to minimize the risk of arbitrary web script injection. Ensure proper input sanitization and output escaping for all user-supplied attributes in the btn2 shortcode to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks.
