Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
StreamWeasels Kick Integration plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.1.1
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's
sw-kick-embed shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes, such as username and password. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
Update to the latest version available to secure your site.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
sw-kick-embed shortcode until a patch is available.
Restrict access to the sw-kick-embed shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Avoid using the sw-kick-embed shortcode in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved.Fix
