Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Booster for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 7.1.6
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'wcj product barcode' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes like
color. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 7.1.6, update to a version that includes the necessary input sanitization and output escaping fixes to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'wcj product barcode' shortcode for users with contributor-level and above permissions until a patch is available. Additionally, avoid using the
color attribute in the 'wcj product barcode' shortcode until the issue is resolved.Fix
