CVE-2024-11501

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions The Gallery plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.3
Description The Gallery plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection via deserialization of untrusted input from the wd gallery $id parameter. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject a PHP Object. No known POP chain is present in the vulnerable software. However, if a POP chain is present via an additional plugin or theme installed on the target system, it could allow the attacker to delete arbitrary files, retrieve sensitive data, or execute code.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 1.3, consider disabling the deserialization of untrusted input from the wd gallery $id parameter as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable plugin to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the wd gallery $id parameter in the affected plugin until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
