CVE-2024-11901

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions PowerBI Embed Reports plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.1.7
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'MO API POWER BI' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For PowerBI Embed Reports plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.1.7, consider updating to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the 'MO API POWER BI' shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, limit contributor-level access and above to reduce the potential for authenticated attackers to inject malicious scripts. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
