Description The Animated Counters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'animatedcounte' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations Update to the latest version of the Animated Counters plugin for WordPress to mitigate potential risks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'animatedcounte' shortcode until a patch is available. Avoid using the 'animatedcounte' shortcode with untrusted input until the issue is resolved.
