CVE-2024-12031

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Advanced Floating Content plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.8.2
Description The issue arises from insufficient escaping on the user-supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query in the floating content duplicate post function. This allows authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries, potentially extracting sensitive information from the database.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 3.8.2, update to a version higher than 3.8.2 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the floating content duplicate post function until a patch is available. Restrict subscriber-level access and above to minimize the risk of exploitation.
