CVE-2024-12338

CVSS v3.1

6.1

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Website Toolbox Community plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.0.1
Description The issue is related to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting, which occurs due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action, such as clicking on a link. The websitetoolbox username parameter is specifically vulnerable to this type of attack.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 2.0.1, consider disabling the websitetoolbox username parameter until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to the plugin's functionality to minimize the risk of arbitrary web script injection. Avoid using the websitetoolbox username parameter in affected pages until the issue is resolved.
