CVE-2024-12509

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Embed Twine plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 0.1.0
Description The Embed Twine plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'embed twine' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes, such as attributes from users. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 0.1.0, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the 'embed twine' shortcode until a patch is available. Restrict access to the 'embed twine' shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the 'embed twine' shortcode in pages until the issue is resolved.
