CVE-2024-12622

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions WordPress Simple Shopping Cart plugin versions up to and including 5.0.7
Description The issue is related to stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The vulnerability is specifically associated with the plugin's wp cart button and wp cart display product shortcodes.
Recommendations For WordPress Simple Shopping Cart plugin versions up to and including 5.0.7, update to a version higher than 5.0.7 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the wp cart button and wp cart display product shortcodes to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, limiting contributor-level access and above can help reduce the potential for arbitrary web script injection.
