CVE-2024-20717

CVSS v2.0

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:P/I:P/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Adobe Commerce versions 2.4.6-p3, 2.4.5-p5, 2.4.4-p6 and earlier
Description The issue is related to a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability that could be abused by a low-privileged attacker to inject malicious scripts into vulnerable form fields. Malicious JavaScript may be executed in a victim’s browser when they browse to the page containing the vulnerable field. The vulnerability is associated with the lack of protection of the web page structure, which could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. The Mage Adminhtml Block System Config Form Field File does not escape filename value in certain situations, making it possible to inject malicious scripts.
Recommendations For Adobe Commerce versions 2.4.6-p3, 2.4.5-p5, 2.4.4-p6 and earlier, consider disabling the Mage Adminhtml Block System Config Form Field File function until a patch is available to prevent exploitation of the stored XSS vulnerability. Restrict access to file upload fields in the admin panel to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the filename value in certain situations until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
