CVE-2024-1357

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Shortcodes and extra features for Phlox theme plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.15.5
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's aux timeline shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes such as thumb mode and date type. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 2.15.5, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the aux timeline shortcode for users with contributor-level and above permissions to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, avoid using the thumb mode and date type attributes in the aux timeline shortcode until the issue is resolved.
