Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Social Sharing Plugin – Sassy Social Share plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.3.56
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the plugin's shortcode(s). This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 3.3.56, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the plugin's shortcode(s) to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, limit contributor-level and above permissions to trusted users only.
Fix
XSS
