Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Master Slider – Responsive Touch Slider plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.9.5
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's
ms slide shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 3.9.5, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
ms slide shortcode for users with contributor-level and above permissions until a patch is available.Fix
