Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Shortcodes and extra features for Phlox theme plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.15.5
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the HTML Element due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The exploitation requires Elementor and the Phlox theme to be installed.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.15.5, upgrade to a newer version to mitigate the risk.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the HTML Element feature until a patch is available.
Avoid using the HTML Element feature in the affected plugin until the issue is resolved.
Fix
