| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:N/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Carousel Slider WordPress plugin versions prior to 2.2.7
Description
The Carousel Slider WordPress plugin does not sanitise and escape some of its settings, which could allow high privilege users such as admin to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks even when the unfiltered html capability is disallowed, for example in multisite setup. This issue enables malicious actors to create JavaScript backdoors, potentially leading to website compromises.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 2.2.7, update to version 2.2.7 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the plugin's settings to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the plugin in multisite setups where the unfiltered html capability is disallowed until the issue is resolved.
