Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
WP Chat App plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.6.1
Description
The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes such as
buttonColor and phoneNumber. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages, which will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For WP Chat App plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.6.1, update to a version later than 3.6.1 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the widget/block that uses the
buttonColor and phoneNumber attributes to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
