CVE-2024-1799

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions GamiPress versions up to, and including, 6.8.6
Description The issue concerns a SQL Injection vulnerability via the achievement types attribute of the gamipress earnings shortcode. This vulnerability is due to insufficient escaping on the user-supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. It allows authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries, which can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 6.8.6, update to a version higher than 6.8.6 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the gamipress earnings shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the achievement types attribute in the affected shortcode until the issue is resolved.
