Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Social Warfare plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 4.4.6.1
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'socialWarfare' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 4.4.6.1, update to a version later than 4.4.6.1 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'socialWarfare' shortcode for users with contributor-level and above permissions until a patch is available.
Fix
XSS
