Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Premium Addons PRO plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.9.12
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the
premium fbchat app id parameter of the Messenger Chat Widget. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages, which will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.9.12, update to a version higher than 2.9.12 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Messenger Chat Widget for users with contributor-level access and above until a patch is available.
Avoid using the
premium fbchat app id parameter in the affected Messenger Chat Widget until the issue is resolved.Fix
