Description
The issue is a heap-based buffer overflow, which could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of DICOM Viewer. A user must open a malicious DCM file in order to exploit the issue.
Recommendations
For MicroDicom DICOM Viewer versions 2023.3 (Build 9342) and prior, avoid opening malicious DCM files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the DICOM Viewer to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
