Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
GamiPress – Button plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.0.7
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the plugin's 'gamipress button' shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.0.7, update to a version later than 1.0.7 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'gamipress button' shortcode for users with contributor-level and above permissions until a patch is available.
Fix
XSS
