| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
wpDiscuz plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 7.6.15
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
Alternative Text field of an uploaded image due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with author-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 7.6.15, update to a version later than 7.6.15 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the image upload feature to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, restrict the use of the
Alternative Text field until a patch is available.Fix
