Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco Small Business 100, 300, and 500 Series Wireless Access Points (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in the web-based management interface, allowing an authenticated, remote attacker to perform command injection attacks. To exploit this, the attacker must have valid administrative credentials for the device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code as the root user on the underlying operating system by sending a crafted HTTP request to the web-based management interface.
Recommendations
For all affected versions, ensure that only authorized personnel have administrative access to the device, and consider restricting access to the web-based management interface until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, consider implementing additional validation for user-supplied input in the web-based management interface. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
