CVE-2024-26706

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the exception handler implementation in the Linux kernel, which may cause random data corruption when accessing user space memory. This occurs when the compiler uses a different register than the specified register %r29 for the error code. The fault handler will store -EFAULT into %r29, potentially overwriting other data. The problem is resolved by extending the ex table to include information about the register used for the error return code, allowing the fault handler to correctly store -EFAULT.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
